An online briefing of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the parliamentary group of the Bundestag "Germany-Central Asia"
On February 25 this year, an online briefing of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the parliamentary group of the Bundestag "Germany-Central Asia" took place.
It was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodik Safoev, Chairman of the parliamentary group of the Bundestag "Germany - Central Asia" Manfred Grund and members of its presidium, representatives of the Federal Government, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany, members of the Chambers of the Parliament of Uzbekistan.
During the briefing, the information was given on the socio-political and socio-economic reforms being carried out in the country, including measures to support the economy, as well as the population during the coronavirus pandemic - this is social protection, access to medical services, support for entrepreneurs and others. The activity of the Parliament of Uzbekistan in quarantine conditions was also considered.
M. Grund emphasized that the German parliament attaches great importance to the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties between Uzbekistan and Germany. In his words, in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Germany have reached the level of deepened partnership which is filled with concrete content in all spheres of bilateral interaction, primarily inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Participants emphasized continued interaction within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN. In addition, the Uzbek side expressed interest in interacting with German colleagues in the implementation of the initiatives of Uzbekistan, voiced by the President of our country during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
At the briefing, issues of expanding Uzbek-German trade and economic cooperation, as well as in the spheres of tourism, healthcare and education, attracting German investments and modern technologies to the economy of Uzbekistan, studying and sharing experience in adopting laws of direct action, conducting parliamentary control in budgetary policy were considered.
As a result of the event, the parties agreed to maintain a systematic dialogue between the parliaments.
