Uzbekistan – Germany Inter-MFA Political Consultations
On January 31, 2022 the 18th round of inter-ministerial political consultations between Uzbekistan and Germany was held in Berlin.
The delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fazilov and Director for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs Matthias Lüttenberg.
During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and prospects for further development of bilateral relations and interaction within the framework of regional and international organisations. Particular attention was paid to the strengthening of political dialogue, expansion of inter-parliamentary ties, and intensification of trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The German side positively assessed the level of interaction and expressed interest in its further expansion. The sides noted also Germany's willingness to provide necessary assistance to the large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan.
Within consultations, the sides agreed on a range of measures to be implemented jointly in the nearest future, including the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany on March 6, the activation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, the implementation of reciprocal visits.
Prospective projects in economy, environment, innovation, science, education and healthcare have also been addressed.
At the same time, the sides exchanged views on pressing issues of regional and international agenda.
The next round of consultations is to be held in Uzbekistan.
