Big changes
On April 30, 2023, the constitutional law "On the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was adopted by popular vote in a referendum.
This referendum practically showed how the political consciousness, legal culture and outlook of our people have improved in recent years. Through this historic election, our people once again demonstrated their full support for constitutional reforms. On the basis of such determination of our country, a solid ground was created for the sustainable development of our national statehood and economy in the future.
As a result of the constitutional reforms, our people and our country have entered a new, more advanced period of their development. The updated Constitution was enriched with new articles aimed at ensuring a wider and fuller right of citizens to vote and be elected, as well as improving the national election system.
This year's election will be held for the first time on the basis of the updated Constitution of our country and will become another vivid expression of the tasks defined in the Development Strategy.
Based on the requirements of the updated Constitution, on May 6, 2023, a number of changes and additions were made to the Election Code aimed at improving the electoral legislation, including the provision of early elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The improvement of the electoral legislation in accordance with these changes and additions will be an important factor in ensuring the guarantees of voting rights of citizens and their participation in state and community management.
