Outcomes and New Projects in Chemical Industry Considered
On September 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of the main indicators and planned projects in the chemical industry.
As a result of reforms in the chemical industry, the variety of products and the profitability of enterprises have increased. For the first eight months of this year, more than one million tons of mineral fertilizers have been produced. Exports nearly doubled and reached $330 million.
The increased investors’ confidence and the capital inflow into the industry were the major impetus for the growth. In particular, today in the chemical industry, the private sector is implementing 15 projects worth $2 billion, 5 of which have recently been put into operation.
At the same time, a lot of work remains to be done to turn the sphere into an industry with a high value-added component. It is necessary to provide the enterprises with raw materials, carry out their technological re-equipment, create chemical clusters and expand production.
The information on the work accomplished in this direction and the expected outcomes by the end of the year were presented at the presentation.
The President outlined further tasks in this sphere.
As it is well-known, four chemical clusters with a full production cycle «from raw materials to finished products» are being established on the basis of large enterprises in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as in the Fergana, Navoiy, and Tashkent regions. Currently, 14 projects totaling $1,8 billion are being implemented, and 29 projects totaling $5,6 billion are planned.
The President noted that in order to start effectively the activities of these clusters, it is necessary to create a project office, divide vacant plots into lots and attract investors.
The instructions were given on the introduction of advanced experience and modern technologies at chemical enterprises, as well as the privatization of the state share.
It was emphasized that in the current difficult situation in the world, it is important to uninterruptedly provide agriculture with mineral fertilizers.
Another in-demand direction in the market is household chemicals. Most of the domestic demand for such products is imported. The raw materials and quality improvement are needed to strengthen the capacity of local producers. In this regard, the task was set to create the favorable conditions for the private sector in the field of household chemicals, provide manufacturers with raw materials and attract international brands.
