A Congratulatory Address to the People of Uzbekistan on Ramadan Hayit – Eid al-Fitr
Dear compatriots!
I sincerely, wholeheartedly congratulate you, all Muslims of our country, all our people on the holy holiday of Ramadan Hayit – the Eid al-Fitr and express my deepest respect and best wishes to all of you.
On these blessed and bright days, when our hearts are overwhelmed with joy, we, first of all, thank the Almighty for celebrating this sacred holiday in peace, friendship and harmony, with our families, together with all our people.
It is gratifying that this holiday, which our people have honored for centuries as a great spiritual value, a symbol of kindness, mercy and humanism, is taking an increasingly solid place in the life of our society.
This year Ramadan Hayit is taking place at a historic time. Based on the implementation of the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan, which embodied the noble idea «In the name of human honor and dignity», our large-scale reforms are reaching an even higher level.
As it is well-known, Ramadan Hayit calls on all peoples to live in friendship and mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation, which is a clear expression of the exaltation of human honor and dignity.
Undoubtedly, it is all about securing the rights and interests of a person in religion. In recent years, a large-scale activity has been carried out in the country to restore religious values and to study the richest scientific and spiritual heritage of our people. In particular, the improvement of such shrines as the burial places of the seven great Sufis in Bukhara, the mausoleum of Imam Termezi in the Surkhandarya Region, memorial complexes – Abul Muin Nasafi in Kashkadarya and Zangi-Ota in the Tashkent Region, Sulton Uvays Karani in Namangan and Suzuk-Ota in Tashkent are a clear confirmation of this.
Currently, as a logical continuation of our good deeds, the large-scale construction and improvement work is being carried out in Mir Arab Madrasah in Bukhara, the memorial complex of Imam Bukhari in Samarkand and the International Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.
Distinguished compatriots!
As it is well-known, due to the coronavirus pandemic, some restrictions have been imposed on pilgrimage – Hajj and Umrah. Thanks to the measures taken, we have restored the Umrah pilgrimage for our citizens since January this year. As a result, about 35 thousand compatriots have performed the sacred pilgrimage over the past short time.
I am glad to announce that there is also an opportunity to perform the sacred Hajj this year.
Indeed, this is another mercy of the Almighty to our compatriots, who with great endurance overcame all difficulties in the days of trials.
Dear friends!
Today all of us see how rapidly the situation in the world is changing. The conflicts and confrontations quickly flare up in certain regions, which then become a serious threat to peace and security. All this poses important tasks for us and calls us to always be vigilant and attentive.
Our sacred religion teaches that a true Muslim must always be ready for any trials and the people with pure thoughts who do good deeds shall surely be rewarded by Almighty.
In this regard, it is a requirement of today to strengthen stability in the country, an atmosphere of mutual respect and harmony, and moving towards progress based on the centuries-old, unfading national values.
We need to educate the youth, which is our hope, our future based on the harmonization of such important qualities as a spiritually mature generation capable of successfully competing in the international arena.
Only with such specific goals, thanks to the constant search and striving for something new, we shall be able to achieve better results today than yesterday, and tomorrow even greater than today, to create a comfortable and prosperous life.
We must always remember that the greatest wealth in the world, which will never lose its value, is knowledge and education.
The effectively using our rich national traditions and modern experience in the education of advanced states, we shall certainly achieve the high targets.
Taking this opportunity, we sincerely congratulate all Muslims of the near and far abroad, wishing them peace, progress and prosperity.
Dear compatriots!
For meaningful spending of these blessed days with families, at makhallas (the local neighborhood community areas), towns and villages on the occasion of Ramadan Hayit, the days off have been announced in the country. This is a good opportunity to visit parents, those who need support, and meet with loved ones during the holiday.
I am confident that our fellow citizens shall actively participate in the ongoing work aimed at further improving the socio-spiritual atmosphere in the society, helping everyone, especially the youth, as well as find a worthy place in life.
Once again, I cordially congratulate you, all our people, on the widely celebrated the holy holiday of Ramadan Hayit in the country. I wish all of you peace, happiness and a sound health, prosperity and well-being to your families.
May this wonderful holiday fill our hearts with light!
May the sky be peaceful over our Motherland!
May the life of our people be prosperous!
Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
