This year, Uzbekistan will for the first time take part in the International Classical Singers Competition - BBC Cardiff Singer of the World.

Uzbekistan will be represented by a talented singer with dramatic soprano voice, Barno Ismatullayeva. She is the youngest participant of the contest.

Only 20 contenders have reached the final stage. The final of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2017 will be held this year in St David’s Hall in Cardiff, Wales, UK.

An unusual concert has taken place in the organ hall of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan. The well-known Uzbek musicians - the winner of international competitions Sardor Jumayev (violin) and the senior teacher at the department of chamber music and concertmasters of the State Conservatory Tatyana Myakushko (piano) presented the audience with the surprise concert program.

The musicians created ‘The Evening of Violin Miniatures.’ And as a result of their joint work, an interesting and vivid program turned out - from the classics to the soundtrack, the main figures of which were its majesty the Violin and ‘the golden collection’ of miniatures. That was the evening of violin miniature: the most popular works of G. Venyavsky, N. Paganini, F. Kreisler, J. Massenet, P. Tchaikovsky and D. Williams were performed.

‘The Evening of Violin Miniatures’ has become a true gift for music lovers, able to appreciate the beauty of the musical form, to experience all the unique wealth and variety of elusive mood transitions of melody and harmony.

The drama ‘Details of the Fall’ is nominated in the category ‘The Best Film of the CIS and Baltic States.’

On March 1, the nominees for the Nika National Film Award were announced, established by the Russian Academy of Cinematographic Arts, were announced. The film directed by Zulfiqor Musoqov ‘Details of the Fall’ (Xazonrezgi) is nominated in the category ‘The Best Film of the CIS and Baltic States.’

The list of nominees in this category also includes ‘A Father’s Will’ by Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar Uulu, ‘Red Garden’ by Mirbala Salimli, ‘The House of Others’ by Rusudan Glurjidze, ‘Plague in the Village Karatas’ by Adilkhan Yerzhanov.

‘Details of the Fall’ is a drama about uneasy relationships, complex feelings and human mercy. The heroes of the picture are an ordinary family, nothing remarkable: ill mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, who, in turn, is a mother-in-law for her son’s wife. The theme is familiar for Uzbek cinema. But the general background traces the story of the horrors of the Afghan war. Kurban is the Afghan war veteran. Memory constantly brings him back to the past, leaving deep scars in his soul. Relations with his beloved are not easy. One strange call breaks the flow of life.

On May 5-6, 2017, Tashkent will host the 2nd School and University French-speaking Theater and Song Festival. It is organized by the Embassy of France in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education and the Youth Theater of Uzbekistan.

The organizers accept applications until March 15 from participants: students of schools, colleges, lyceums and universities or the French Alliance of Tashkent, studying French, aged 12 to 22. Requirements for the composition of theater groups are 3-7 actors, and one or two teachers. The participants should present the 10-20 minute performance (or a fragment of the performance), which should include one song in a live performance.

The festival will be participated by no more than twenty theater groups. The jury will award ten prizes: for the best female and male roles in three age categories, for creating a visual presentation, for the best production, for the best performance, and a special jury prize.

On the territory of the old zoo, part of which was occupied by Ecopark, the Babur Central Park of Tashkent will be constructed.

Sketches of the future park are placed in the construction zone. According to the sketches, the park will be divided into several thematic zones. Special paths will be set aside for walking and biking, outdoor gyms for exercise, a football field and a ground for practicing yoga. The park will house a cafe for 150 people with a terrace and a waterfall. The islet in the center of the pond will be transformed for wedding events and photo sessions. And a small pier will be built on the shoreline of the reservoir.

The opening of the new park is scheduled for the International Children’s Day - June 1.
