In Uzbekistan, the first nuclear power plant will be built

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about plans for the construction of the first nuclear power plant (NPP), speaking at an extraordinary session of the Kengash of People's Deputies of the Tashkent region.

The head of state called a historic agreement signed with Russia, which provides for cooperation in this area.

"For the first time in history, an agreement has been signed to build a nuclear power plant, we are thinking about tomorrow. We must ask ourselves what will happen to the future generation," Mirziyoyev said.

The agreement on cooperation in the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes between Uzbekistan and Russia was signed last year. The Russian side proposed to build in Uzbekistan a station of "3+" WWER-1200 two modern generation units.
